Privacy

This site keeps only what it needs to list demos and rankings. No ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies.

What is stored

• Your Steam ID and Steam name, if you sign in through Steam. Steam tells us only your Steam ID; the name is read from your public Steam profile at each sign-in. We never see your Steam password or e-mail.
• A sign-in cookie (__Host-ftlrw): a random token, kept as a keyed hash on our side, valid for 30 days or until you sign out. It is the only cookie. It is needed to keep you signed in.
• The demos you upload and what is read from them: ship, difficulty, result, score, times, seed, the Rewind and game builds, and the name and comment typed in the game. The upload's date and time, and for an upload without signing in, the uploader name typed into the form, if any.
• Upload counters against spam: per account, and per IP address as a keyed hash whose key changes every day, so an address can't be recovered or followed from day to day. They are deleted after two days.
• Bans, as a keyed hash of the Steam ID and the reason.
• Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes requests (IP address, browser) to deliver and protect it: Cloudflare's privacy policy. Anonymous uploads use Cloudflare Turnstile as a bot check.

What is public

Your Steam name, a link to your Steam profile, your demos and the statistics worked out from them.

Deleting your data

Signed in, open your account and choose Delete my data. Your Steam ID, Steam name and sign-ins are removed and your player is renamed to an anonymous name such as AnonymousPlayer#4342. The Your demos stay on the site and in the rankings under the anonymous name; nothing links them to your Steam account any more. What the demos themselves hold stays as it is, including the name and comment you typed in the game: that name is part of the demo, not of your account, and Rewind never rewrites a finished demo. To have demos taken down entirely, contact us through GitHub.

A ban stays after deleting your data (as the keyed hash of your Steam ID), so a ban can't be undone by it.
